HAPPY ELEVEN MONTH "BIRTHDAY"...OLIVER

As you can imagine it is getting more difficult to capture a stationary picture of Oliver. At 11 months he's on the move and doesn't really look back! He crawls, rolls, downward dogs and cruises his way to his next location. He is so determined to keep up with Charlotte and Jacob and all the other kids he's around during the day. He loves being part of the action!

We continue to see huge changes in Oliver. From August 9 to September 9 he has:
  • Grown and gained weight: We don't have an official weigh in with the doctor this month but our scale at home says that Oliver is 23 lbs
  • Cut more teeth: Oliver has cut two new top teeth bringing his total to five on the top and two on the bottom
  • Expanded his vocabulary: His new "word sounds" include all done, uh oh and all. They certainly aren't as clear as how I've written them but if you listen closely it sounds like that's what he's saying!
  • Started pulling himself up: On Aug 15 two hours after we returned from his 10 month check up at Dr. Greenburg's office Oliver pulled himself up on the side of the bath tub. He has not stopped ever since. Anything he can pull himself up on now he will. He has also mastered getting down from a standing position as well
  • Started cruising: Oliver's favourite cruising spots include going around the coffee table and going from the coffee table to the couch
  • Crawling up one or two steps: Oliver has figured out how to climb up one or two steps. He has yet to venture higher than that but it's only a matter of time
  • Recognizes the Wheels on the Bus song: Oliver's favourite song is The Wheels on the Bus. Whenever anyone starts to sing it he will excitedly start waving his arms, clapping his hands and smiling. It has even stopped him from crying at times too!
  • Gave mommy a fat lip: Oliver continues to express his frustration by whipping his head back or throwing it forward. Yesterday my upper lip was on the receiving end of his head whip and it immediately started to puff up and bleed. I was in a lot of pain but he continued on as if nothing happened - he's got one solid head!
  • Said good-bye to mommy's maternity leave: My maternity leave officially ended on August 12. Oliver transitioned very well from spending all his time with me during the day to hanging out with Claire, Charlotte and Jacob while Doyle and I are at work!
  • Started going to bed at 7 p.m.: We have started to stretch Oliver's bed time to closer to 7 p.m. so we can spend some extra time with him at the end of the day now that we're both working.
  • Said good-bye to his bottles: Oliver now drinks all his liquids from a sippy cup! We officially said good-bye to his bottles on Aug 25
  • Activities outside the house: Walks in the neighbour, lots of time at the park and a visit to Riverdale Farm
So hard to believe one month from now
we'll be celebrating Oliver's first birthday
